Breathing a sigh of relief

Between presidential politics and the new season of reality shows, it’s been hard for me to tear myself away from the TV long enough to blog lately. I’ve seen a lot of things that were inspirational and a lot of others that have distressed me. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot of ugly out there.

I’ve been particularly disturbed as I’ve watched one high-profile woman, for weeks now, maintain a professional demeanor and a smile on her face while lies and exaggerations poured out of her mouth. She has portrayed herself as the brightest of the lot, the most capable performer, the shining star, deserving of the ultimate prize. She has taken credit for the work of others and blamed those same others for her own errors of judgment. When challenged, she has twisted the truth at every turn to suit her own agenda, and she hasn’t missed an opportunity to misdirect the viewing public and point a figurative middle finger at a series of opponents. It’s been sickening to watch.

Tonight, though, I’m feeling encouraged again. Justice prevailed on my TV screen earlier this evening, and that “Washington insider” whose underhanded tactics left me so dismayed is out of the race.

Tonight I heard the words I've been waiting to hear: “Omarosa, you’re fired!”

Thank you, Donald Trump, for restoring my faith in humanity.

  1. Oh, you're good. I was all sorts of "here she goes, she's going to bash the politics -- on a larger scale of reality." And then you drop Omarosa's name. Ha! I don't watch the show regularly but I do think it was a brilliant move to bring her back for this season, as far as generating more viewers.

  2. great post!

i only watched seasons 1 and 2. my favorite apprentice moment of all time was actually a commercial for season 2 which made some claim that the next episode would be the most explosive episode ever. To preview the cause of the pending mayhem, the commercial announcer said:

    "Two words: Oma Rosa."

    I laughed for 5 minutes.

  3. Duly Inspired, heh-heh, that was fun! I agree with you that it was a good move for Trump to bring Omarosa back, although it was kind of a stretch to include her in a "celebrity" cast.

Yajeev, that announcer's "two words" were scary ones for sure. I know I wouldn't want Omarosa mad at me. Now that I think about it, I hope she doesn't have time to Google her name and go on the attack against old-lady bloggers.

  4. Great post! I thought you were talking about Hillary at first. I don't watch Apprentice, but I've heard of Omarosa.

  5. All along I thought you were talking about Hillary but were being too kind to mention her name!

I saw the show although I don't usually watch it. I love Piers, don't you? I guess next week we have to deal with getting Stephen fired!

My favorite line in the show last night was when Omarosa said she though Piers was in the closet! I laughed pretty hard. She sank to new lows!

  7. Great post Velvet. Interestingly, my best friend's hubby just met Omarosa (They were both appearing at a sports event.). He said she was amazingly nice and doesn't come off anything like she does on tv. Still... she's definitely one people love to hate.

  8. Janet, Omarosa's certainly made a name for herself. I think "infamous" would describe her fairly well.

Nan16, I haven't seen many of this season's episodes either, but the previews of this one enticed me to switch channels. I flipped over from CNN's "Ballot Box" to "Celebrity Apprentice" and couldn't help noticing the similarities between the two shows. ;-)

Patsy, as you can see by the other comments, you're not alone.

Creekhiker, I'm assuming the event your friend's hubby attended with Omarosa didn't force them into any kind of competition. It's the win-at-all-costs thing that seems to push her "nasty" buttons. There seems to be a lot of that going around lately.
