Color me excited!

For more than a year now I've been dissatisfied with the quality of my photos on this blog. They're high-res images that look beautiful until I upload them on Blogger, and then they look pale, flat, fuzzy, and lifeless.

After seeing the quality of my vacation photos diminish before my eyes (and yours), I finally did enough research to figure out how to solve the problem. Here's a "before" image:

And here's the same image "after" a small change has been made in the html code:

I hope you can see as much difference in the details as I can. To me there's enough of an improvement in the second image that this morning I've gone back and changed the code on every vacation picture I've posted so far.

My goal is for you to have a pleasant experience when you visit here, so I've been bummed for a while about showing you low-quality images. Thanks to Carlo Dimaandal's website, I'll feel much better about sharing photos with you from now on.

  1. My photos used to look like yours ... At that time, I was very satisfied with them --but when I got more into blogging, I realized how 'washed out' mine looked. SO--I began to work on mine also...

I also got rid of my point and shoot and got a really nice camera. Got a Canon Rebel --and love it. Wow--what a difference. Since then, I've been working harder and harder to get good photos. I also used Photo Shop Elements which helps with some of the lighting/colors...

I'm still an amateur--and don't ever profess to be professional. I really don't spend hours on each photo --making it perfect. I just love to snap pictures (lots of them) and then pick out the ones I love. It's still just a lot of fun to me...

Glad you found a way to make yours better. It does help.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. Betsy, I should have mentioned in this post that it was the beautiful photos on your blog that inspired me to try harder to improve mine. I love taking pictures, too, though I don't get to go to nearly as many interesting and scenic places as you do. Still, I'm happy that I've found a way to improve the shots of my backyard and my dogs. :)

  3. wow-didn't know changing the html code would do that! I wonder if it would work on Wordpress.

  6. Janet, Duly Inspired, and Marion: Glad you can see the difference. For what it's worth, none of the the three of you seems to have the "smudged photo" syndrome I was experiencing, so the problem might have been inherent to the particular template I chose.

Janet, I don't know anything at all about Wordpress, but I'm sure someone somewhere on the Internet could tell you.

Duly Inspired, thanks. The scenery was so beautiful it was impossible to take a really bad shot of it.

Marion, thanks for letting me know you're enjoying these pics. My hits have dropped off this past week, so I was afraid people were getting bored.
