Three dogs lay sleeping on the living room floor when I sat down to watch TV this afternoon. It was wonderfully peaceful, and before I realized what was happening, I dozed off.
Mere minutes later, I woke up. All three dogs were awake, too. Two lay just where they'd been before, but their eyes were glued to the third dog. He, apparently, had awakened and fixed himself a snack.
I had left two small, perfect bananas in the middle of my kitchen counter. The one you see between Levi's paws is the second banana. That peel beside his left foreleg is from the first one, which he presumably enjoyed in its entirety.
I'll give him very little supper tonight and hope he doesn't get a belly ache.
Yup, you gotta watch them every minute! They're smart, they wait till you're asleep then go do things they shouldn't! Hope he doesn't get sick, I forget if bananas are on the list of no-nos for dogs. Spot will eat a tiny bit of banana but doesn't really like it.
ReplyDeleteI love puppies. Just like kids, you can never turn your back on them. The fact that the photo was "second banana" just screams for a funny retort, but I am coming up dry. Guess I slipped up!
ReplyDeleteSo is Levi turning Butch into Sister Mary Katherine's assistant?
ReplyDeleteJanet, I know!!! He had just come in from a long, vigorous romp outside and was sacked out. I didn't intend to fall asleep, but I knew I was pooped, so I probably should have put him in the kennel just to be safe. No, bananas aren't on the no-no list, though they're high in sugar content, so dogs probably shouldn't get more than a couple of slices. Certainly not one and a-quarter whole bananas.
ReplyDeleteWriting MN, "Second Banana" was my first title for that post, but I couldn't make a joke out of it either. God knows I tried.
Holly, Sister Mary Katherine (it tickles me that you remember that) must have been too tired to alert me, or else she was hoping to get a piece of the action. Butch was working his nose in Levi's direction, trying to figure out what was going on. Normally, even if Levi is just tearing the stuffing out of a toy, Kadi runs over, lays her head in my lap, and stares up at me imploringly, as if to say, "You really need to make him stop doing that."
One of the precious few things Cheyenne will not eat! I love a sneaky food criminal in the house though.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, the word verification for my previous comment was QUELOCO, and I had to laugh at the French/Spanish combo of "What crazy" ;-)
ReplyDeleteDuly Inspired, QUELOCO is a word that has practical application from time to time. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVe this!!! He is so funny! I Guess he knew to peel it first. lol
ReplyDeleteJenn, his purpose in life seems to be to rip all the stuffing out of his toys, so I wasn't too surprised he did the same thing with the bananas. Can you imagine how happy he was to discover that this "stuffing" was tasty?
