Halt! Who goes there?

Levi (on the left above) knows everything that goes on in the neighborhood. When the neighbors on any side of us have company, Levi hears them and barks loudly to let them know he's paying attention. Butch, with his blindness and almost non-existent hearing, rarely has a clue anybody's moving around outside, unless he can hear Levi, and then he wants in on the action.

I didn't know the curly-haired pup I brought home at the end of last year would grow up to be a watchdog, but he's turned out to be a good one. I hope he'll figure out soon that folks in other people's yards don't need to be announced. And I hope that no malevolent stranger who approaches figures out that if he comes too close to the barking, growling, big curly dog, he's likely to have a wet tennis ball thrust into his hand.

  1. Linda, Patsy's daughter died last night. Life gives us lots of bumps in the road we travel.

  2. Oh, no, Betty! I am so shocked and saddened. Can you please email me (velvetsacks@eatel.net) and tell me what happened?

  3. Daisy barks at anything that moves outside-whether it's a squirrel, the neighbor's cat (who seems to enjoy sauntering slowly under the living room window while Daisy goes bonkers inside), to people coming home or leaving their houses. We're hoping she figures out what's important and what isn't-soon.

I didn't know Levi was so big! He sure has grown!

  5. Janet and Holly, isn't he huge??? I'm sure Mabel must be bigger than Levi, but sometimes it feels like I have a horse in the house. (A very lovable horse.)

  6. I definitely felt I had adopted a horse when I brought Mabel home... I'll never forget her walking in the kitchen and placing her head 'just so' on the kitchen counter!

    So sorry about Patsy's daughter!

  7. Holly, if Mabel can do that, she's definitely taller than Levi. He can lay his chin on the table, but not on the counter.

And, yes, it is sad. She was only 46.
